As if performing, songwriting, producing, animal rescuing, writing his autobiography, managing his own record label, and creating artistic masterpieces ain't enough, it seems Fuzztones frontman RUDI PROTRUDI (aka "Scoop" Protrudi to those in the "Industry") somehow finds time to interview porno starlets for the internationally renowned men's mag, CLUB INTERNATIONAL! Rudi's "job" is to attend photoshoots and then interview the top gals in the industry. Rudi's fondness for Hummers (no, not that ugly car, dummy!) led him to suggest to the editors that the magazine devote a feature on the subject - and sure enough, the current issue features a 32 page supplement (see photo) that features "Scoop" Protrudi persuading many of today's top carnal carnivores to reveal their secret techniques!

Eddie Shaw of the Monks just wrote and told us that Monks drummer Roger Johnston
died yesterday. No details were given but we had heard he was sick for awhile and was
not expected to play the reunion show at Las Vegas Rockaround in September.
Witnessing the monks reunion at Cavestomp a few years ago was a huge thrill to me and
all die-hard Monks fans who could barely believe that after 30 years the American band
who never even played one show in their own country was actually reunited and performing
 (in complete monk attire, no less) right there for us!  Meeting the guys was also a kick, as
they were all quite humble and very friendly. We are deeply saddened by Roger's passing.
This has been a hell of a year for unexpected rock fatalities, but I'd like to think that Roger,
Arthur, Johnny and Richard have formed one wyld supergroup wherever they are now.

Bob, Rudi & Electric Prunes James Lowe and Mark Tulin

Longtime Fuzztones fan, friend and co-conspirator Bob Schreiner passed away at 6:15 am, Saturday August 7th, at Valley Pres Hospital,
after a 6 month bout with irregular heartbeat. Bob was our recording engineer for almost every Fuzztones, Jaymen and Rudi Protrudi
recording since the "Action" EP, and even guested on Monster A Go Go (as the radio announcer at the beginning of Jack The Ripper ).
He was an incredibly generous friend and talented engineer. He will be greatly missed.

Greg Shaw, founder of Bomp/Voxx Records and Bomp! magazine, died on Tuesday, October 19,
from heart failure at the age of 55.  I didn't know him well, but our paths certainly crossed
more than a few times. When Greg compiled the Battle of The Garages album, we didn't
 have a track recorded - but by the time Volume Two was in production, we sent
"Fabian Lips," which he rejected as not being  "garage" enough, forcing us to record
"Green Slime," which he used.  Greg was one of the first people I met when I got to
 Los Angeles in 1986. Accompanied by their gals, he and Lee Joseph took me to the
Seventh Veil (the club that Motley Crue made famous years later in a video) to watch
strippers. He invited me to the Bomp wherehouse where he offered me any records
that I desired, and (much to his chagrin, I'm sure) I greedily scarfed up 69 albums
(including the entire High In The Mid-Sixties set)! While I was still assembling the
 L.A. Fuzztones, I also played bass for the Miracle Workers (who were on his label),
inspiring him to, protectively, write in to Music Connection magazine, asserting that I
was recruiting them to become my next backing band! Although my attitude at the
time was often one of irreverence, I held the utmost respect for Greg and his
achievements - they will stand long after we're gone.

for this year on the Little Steven's Underground Garage radio show. It was quite an honor for the band to have a
song represented, and even more so to be chosen #2 out of the top 10!
Now we at the Fuzztones Preservation Society ask you, ONCE AGAIN, to make your voice heard! There are still
quite a few people out there who don't even realize that the band is still together and still rockin'! They need all the
