The Fuzztones wish to formally apologize to any fans
who came to see them at the Rohrpott Festival in June,
only to discover The Fuzztones had cancelled. Due to
the unexpected departure of two members of the band and a sudden health issue
it was impossible for The Fuzztones to perform.

We've recently discovered the existence of an alternate version of "Salt For Zombies."
Not only is the cover art different, but the music seems to consist entirely of alternate takes.
Stranger still, the Cd is on a russian label!

During their recent pilgrimage to Ferriday, Louisiana to visit the JERRY LEE LEWIS HOME MUSEUM, Jerry's sister, Frankie Jean, a long-time pal of Rudi's, gave Lana and Rudi seeds from a plant that has been on her mother's grave for the last forty years. We are proud to announce that the Lewis seedling has bloomed and is growing day by day! We'll keep you updated with pics! Frankie Jean and her husband tirelessly keep the museum going, despite the fact that it is certainly not easily accessable to tourists, due to it's location. This incredible landmark is a Rock 'n' Roll treasure, and Frankie Jean can use all the help she can get to keep it going. If you love Jerry Lee and want his legacy to live on, please make a donation today! Her address is Frankie Jean Terrell, LEWIS FAMILY MUSEUM 712 LA Ave, Ferriday, LA. 71334 USA. For 27 years The Fuzztones have led the "Garage Revival" pack,
setting trends and establishing the standards for others to aspire to.
Currently enjoying a well-earned and well-deserved resurgence in
popularity, it seems an odd time to call it a day, but that's just
what leader Rudi Protrudi intends to do. "As much as I love this
band, I have other projects that I've been putting off for years.
My life has always been 100% devoted to The Fuzztones. It's time
that I widen my horizons." According to Mr. Protrudi, the band will
continue to record, and even play the occasional festival, club date
or weekender. The upcoming April tour, which is being announced as the
"HORNY AS HELL TOUR," will be the last European tour for the Gurus of
Garage Grunge. The band is pulling out all the stops to insure that
this will be a most memorable show. One of the highlights planned is
the return of the mighty "Mad" Mike Czekaj, the group's notorious
wildman drummer. Mike's songwriting and vocal contributions featured
prominently on the band's albums "Braindrops," "Action," "Monster A Go Go,"
"In Heat," and "Lysergic Ejaculations," and his onstage antics made
him a favorite of Fuzztones fans. The band also plans to feature
"surprise guests" that, as Rudi assures, will be "Even hornier than ME!"
And that, from the president of the Paisley Pussy Posse himself!

For years collectors have been trying to get their sweaty mitts on these long out-of-print slabs of garage grunge.
Now, The Fuzztones Preservation Society is proud to announce that three of the Fuzztones' rarest vinyl masterpieces
have been reissued on Italy's Get Back label: LEAVE YOUR MIND AT HOME - 12" EP This searingly raw seven song over-the-top live performance from 1984 will not only blow your mind, but will leave it torn out by the roots. One savage slab of vinyl mayhem! SCREAMIN' JAY HAWKINS LIVE WITH THE FUZZTONES - 12" EP The Fuzztones contribute their nasty fuzz drenched swamp spew to Jay's voodoo blues on this legendary four song EP. A marriage made in the depths of Hell! LIVE IN EUROPE - 12" Gatefold LP The Fuzztones were the first "neo-garage" band to invade Europe in 1985. This killer 13 song set is an accurate testimony to the bands' awesome power and certainly shows why they were the main influence of the 80's garage revival. The album comes with a hard vinyl repressing of the original bonus flexi disc, "Gloria" recorded live with special guests Doctor of The Medics and the Damned's Rat Scabies on lead guitar. COLLECTORS EDITION! Due to a pressing plant screw up, the first 50 were printed with pink and green, as opposed to the original purple and green cover. Available for a very limited time for special collector price! ALSO... BRAND NEW!!!... THE FUZZTONES BOOM! As Joachim Hiller stated in Ox-Fanzine, "It was The Fuzztones that introduced an entire generation to the sixties garage punks like The Sonics, Wailers & Co." This six song set of Sonics' covers, compiled from past recorded endeavors, also includes the brand new recording, "Caught You Red Handed," a definite future classic which features Paul Revere and the Raiders' former frontman Mark Lindsay on tenor sax. Available on CD and EP. |

Patrick from RCV 99fm * Rudi Joins Strange Flowers Onstage
As if the Strange Flowers recent appearance at Berlin's Bassy Club wasn't enough of an event, Pisa's modern psychedelicians invited the Paisley Fog himself to join in. Kreepsville Industries along with our good fiend Jimmy Psycho front ghouls from N.Y.C psychobilly band Psycho Charger are putting together a 1313 scary monster comp thur their labelRot N' Roll Army Records. The cd is going to sound and look like one of those old Halloween record from the 60's! The album will be called "The Spooky, Swingin' Sounds of Kreepsville Manor" (here's a rough sketch of the planned album cover art). The label's favorite spooky surf, garage, psychobilly and other eerie bands will be included, including Psycho Charger, The Ghastly Ones, The Headless Hearesmen, THE FUZZTONES, The Legendary Invisible Men (who have recorded a new track for the record), The Death Riders (featuring Blasko from Rob Zombie), Thee Merry Widows, The Memphis Morticians, The Vooduo, and The Moon-Rays among a few others. Plus, haunted sound f/x, a tale of terror told by Von Kreep, and some of the most bloodcurdling monster artwork featuring 1313's main ghouls Red Alice Tate, Gogo Vulnavia, El Psycho, Professor Von Sasquatch and myself Von Kreep, created by guest artist Belgium animator/illustrator Pigsnoot. * In an obvious attempt to catch up to the FUZZTONES, NYC's Fleshtones are now hurrying to compile a tribute album of their own to celebrate THEIR anniversary. It'll probably be out in time to compete with "Fuzztones Illegitimate Spawn Volume TWO".... Keep checking our website guys, and we'll keep providing you with fresh ideas! * Fuzztones Debut Single reissued!
Spain's MUNSTER RECORDS has reissued the Fuzztones debut single, BAD NEWS TRAVELS FAST/ BRAND NEW MAN. Originally released on NYC's Midnight Records in 1984, these two blistering originals were recorded in glorious mono in the Fuzztones NYC rehearsal room on an 8 track reel-to-reel. Met, at the time, with extremely favorable reviews from the rock press,(including Creem!), this record has been referred to as a classic, but unavailable for years. Cover has been reproduced to be an exact replica of the original. Copies of this limited pressing are currently available through this website. Check out our Merchandise page for details! * R.I.P. Nikki Sudden
Nikki and I have been friends since 1988 when he dropped in backstage after a Link Protrudi & The Jaymen show. The next night he was on stage with us, just as drunk as we were (and that's saying something), singing "Purple Haze" while we played "Louie Louie!" We played several gigs together over the years, always staying in touch. I moved to Berlin last year and one of my fondest memories was an impromptu jam with Nikki at Arche Noah soon after my arrival. He called me a few weeks ago to see if I wanted to go for a drink. I was getting ready for a tour and didn't have time. Besides, I knew if we went out for a drink it would end up being several, and he would end up charming me into paying. Nikki was the last Rock 'n' Roll rogue. Rudi Protrudi * Fuzztones Tribute Album Out Now!
The brand new Fuzztones Tribute double CD, "Illegitimate Spawn," is finally out and available now on Rudi Protrudi's Sin Records. Among the 42 bands from all over the world who contributed their own unique and personal interpretations of Fuzztones classics, are the original transgender punk legend Jayne County, 80's psych pioneers Plasticland, the late Nikki Sudden, country goth crooner Hank Ray, and 80's garage legends, the Morlocks. For more information visit the Tribute link. To order write to sinrecords@fuzztones.net * LSD25 - 25 Years Of Fuzz And Fury New release on Get Back!
Italy's Get Back label has just released a repackaged box set version of "LSD25," featuring a twenty page booklet (with great pics of every Fuzztones member) and new album cover art (the poster for the first ever Fuzztones gig). * "CHILDREN OF NUGGETS" OUT NOW!
Inspired, obviously, by the tremendously influental NUGGETS compilation, this collection features the most important 80's garage rockers, including, of course, THE FUZZTONES. The track chosen? BAD NEWS TRAVELS FAST, what else? * LYSERGIC RENOVATIONS We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Simon Chrzanowski and Lenny Svilar for the invaluable help in reconstructing the Fuzztones.Net homepage, and especially to FiveStarDesign for giving this website it's incredible new look. FUZZTASTIC!!!!! While we're at it we also wanna thank former webmasters Phil Arriagada and Igor Trypnik whose tireless efforts will always be greatly appreciated. Lastly, thanks to La Donna Smith, for the construction of CultOfFuzz.Com, the official Fuzztones fansite. * R.I.P. LINK WRAY The first time I heard Link Wray was in 1972. My pal, who lived in Washington, D.C., made me an 8-track tape, which I useta play at when driving my van down the backroads of Pennsyltucky. The ominous sounds of Link's ultra-crude power chord scrunch was the perfect soundtrack for the drive to and from my trailer park. Link was living in D.C. then, I believe, as my pal useta see on local TV teen dance shows, and held him in high esteem. In '86, after the Lysergic Emanation line-up had broken up, the remain ing members (Michael Jay, Mike Czekaj and myself) began playing Link tunes to amuse ourselves between endless auditions for potential Fuzztones replacements. After awhile, we'd worked up a set of Link Wray covers and at the urging of several friends, decided to play a gig. Tribute bands were becoming popular, but who would ever dream of assembling a tribute band to an obscure cult hero such as Link? We needed a catchy name and LINK PROTRUDI & THE JAYMEN we became. Link's band was, of course, called the Raymen, so we named ourselves after our bassist, Michael Jay. Astonishingly (to us, at least) the gig was a smash, and we soon found ourselves touring Canada, headlining over former Fuzztone Elan Portnoy's HEADLESS HORSEMEN, much to his dismay. Since that time, the Jaymen have recorded six albums and toured Europe several times. Not bad for a band that never had any in tention of playing out! In '96, we toured Europe, utilizing a Dutch rhythm section. Word got back to Link Wray that we were good, and he hired the rhythm section as his backing band after our tour was over. A video exists ("The Rumble Man") of Link Wray with the Jaymen (credited as the "Acemen" on the video, as they were from a band called the Acetones). In the video, Link can be seen sporting a LINK PROTRUDI& THE JAYMEN T-Shirt!! Without Link, the "Godfather of Grunge", the sound of distorto guitar may never have been created, and there certainly would never have been a band called the Jaymen, or the Fuzztones for that matter. Thanks Link.

Rudi has just finished assembling and mastering Volume One of the upcoming Fuzztones Double CD Tribute Album. We received so many fantastic contributions, that we'll be releasing three volumes! Rudi is currently in the process of finishing the cover art and booklet layout ![]() PUCKER POWER!!! PROTRUDI PERSUADES PORN PRINCESSES TO PONTIFICATE!![]() As if performing, songwriting, producing, animal rescuing, writing his autobiography, managing his own record label, and creating artistic masterpieces ain't enough, it seems Fuzztones frontman RUDI PROTRUDI (aka "Scoop" Protrudi to those in the "Industry") somehow finds time to interview porno starlets for the internationally renowned men's mag, CLUB INTERNATIONAL! Rudi's "job" is to attend photoshoots and then interview the top gals in the industry. Rudi's fondness for Hummers (no, not that ugly car, dummy!) led him to suggest to the editors that the magazine devote a feature on the subject - and sure enough, the current issue features a 32 page supplement (see photo) that features "Scoop" Protrudi persuading many of today's top carnal carnivores to reveal their secret techniques! Bob, Rudi & Electric Prunes James Lowe and Mark Tulin
Longtime Fuzztones fan, friend and co-conspirator Bob Schreiner passed away at 6:15 am, Saturday August 7th, at Valley Pres Hospital,
after a 6 month bout with irregular heartbeat. Bob was our recording engineer for almost every Fuzztones, Jaymen and Rudi Protrudi
recording since the "Action" EP, and even guested on Monster A Go Go (as the radio announcer at the beginning of Jack The Ripper ).
He was an incredibly generous friend and talented engineer. He will be greatly missed.
-Rudi Protrudi
Greg Shaw, founder of Bomp/Voxx Records and Bomp! magazine, died on Tuesday, October 19, from heart failure at the age of 55. I didn't know him well, but our paths certainly crossed more than a few times. When Greg compiled the Battle of The Garages album, we didn't have a track recorded - but by the time Volume Two was in production, we sent "Fabian Lips," which he rejected as not being "garage" enough, forcing us to record "Green Slime," which he used. Greg was one of the first people I met when I got to Los Angeles in 1986. Accompanied by their gals, he and Lee Joseph took me to the Seventh Veil (the club that Motley Crue made famous years later in a video) to watch strippers. He invited me to the Bomp wherehouse where he offered me any records that I desired, and (much to his chagrin, I'm sure) I greedily scarfed up 69 albums (including the entire High In The Mid-Sixties set)! While I was still assembling the L.A. Fuzztones, I also played bass for the Miracle Workers (who were on his label), inspiring him to, protectively, write in to Music Connection magazine, asserting that I was recruiting them to become my next backing band! Although my attitude at the time was often one of irreverence, I held the utmost respect for Greg and his achievements - they will stand long after we're gone. - Rudi Protrudi 2004

"Though this really shouldn't be of such an importance, it should be noted that the cover art, courtesy of the Fuzztone, Rudi Protrudi, looks like it should've been enough a reason for you to want to have it, featuring two prune-shaped Vox guitars, in front of a pair of Vox amplifiers, graced with the full-blown West-coast style logo." -Goran Obradovic / POPISM radio show; Serbia & Montenegro
