Pure 60's garage punk - The Seeds, Chocolate Watchband, Yardbirds, Animals, ? and the Mysterians, Standells, Shadows of Knight - produced clearly but without excessive slickness. Absolutely first rate. - Ira Robbins, THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO ALTERNATIVE MUSIC (1986)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Angry, freaky, and just plain lurid, the Fuzztones' music is exactly the kind of stuff that makes "punk" such a treasure. While most of the groups involved in the current revival of 60's punk and psychedelia display both a lack of imagination and a failure of attitude, New York's Fuzztones are a wonderfully nasty exception. LYSERGIC EMANATIONS animates the trashiest psycho-punk styles with enough passion to make them seem vital all over again. - Joe Sasfy WASHINGTON POST (1986)

LYSERGIC EMANATIONS is no wandering, addle-brained bit of chas. It's direct, hard-hitting, and overwhelmingly clear in purpose. The 'Tones are concerned with the usual great themes of rock: sex and drugs and rock 'n roll and insanity and death - just the usual - all fueled by the kind of frenetic energy that marked songs like "I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night" and "Pushing Too Hard." The Fuzztones are fast, funny and well nigh flawless in their effort to recapture for these times the giddy spirit of early rock. And as near as modern research has so far been able to determine, LYSERGIC EMANATIONS will not cause chromosome damage. - Chris Heim ILLINOIS ENTERTAINER (1986)

The Fuzztones, with their first British LP, depict rythym and blues sounds on a level reached by the Rolling Stones and Eric Burdon's Animals with this ten tracked album. The album is ready making excellent progress in the independent charts with music that is full of rive and energy. - Robert Clement THE GUARDIAN (July 1985)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fans of bands like the Music Machine (especially THE Music Machine!) as well as today's sixties-type bands will absolutely adore this disc. "Journey To Tyme" has got a really hip-swayin' guitar riff that just hooks ya like catchin' yer fave sweater on somthin'. - Mick London MAKING TYME (1986)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brusquely bracing Sixties album. What more is there to say? Fifty trillion times better than The FleshTONES, probably distant in-laws of The Cramps, the singer halfway into the madhouse. Ultra-melodic but arranged in sucha way nobody hankers for their old days. Bouncing babies. - unknown British magazine (1985)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's good. It's nice to hear, but I've heard it before. I guess to me it sounds a bit nostalgic of that period around '67 or so of the Doors, the Seeds, ? and the Mysterians.... it's good, but it just sounds old. It doesn't sound contemporary. I like bands that are innovative, that are timeless. - Joey Ramone (a few years before the Ramones' "Acid Eaters" LP) ROCK SCENE

This LP is definitely mind-warping. It's the best recording of these 5 paisley totin', banana-smokin' psyche heads. These 10 songs (more on the SIN re-release) are quite well done. Featuring their hit, "Ward 81," each song sounds different and original, and in addition quite gear, in contrast to their previous EP, "LEAVE YOUR MIND AT HOME," in which every song sounded the same. Using exclusively Rickenbacker and Vox instruments , the 'Tones beat out garage grunge that stabs at your heart. Nab this album. These voices green and purple scream their way to your soul. - unknown British fanzine (1985)

Get psychedelic but keep rockin' hard with the Fuzztones, whose LYSERGIC EMANATIONS is probably the definitive garage-rock LP of the moment. opening track, "Cinderella," catches you, and then you can't escape. The trip isn't always pleasant, but then why should it be? - MUSIC CONNECTION (1987)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is music from underneath your garage and could easily be the soundtrack for the Addams Family or Munsters television shows. Originally released in 1985 as a European import, it's now available for the first time here in the States, with two additional tracks (more still on the SIN re-release!). Rudi Protrudi has even redone the cover art in the same style as the import. Ghoulish production, superb songwriting and a lead snarl all delivered by Rudi, that're guaranteed to give you psychedelic nightmares. What don't you do, Rudi? Clean toilets? there's not a bad song on this album, so buy it or die! - Jim LIVELY ARTS (1987)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

...no matter how many efforts I make to convince myself that this record eats it as bad as the band's image, I continue to come up short. This sounds good at most any level; sure the covers are kinda obvious and the originals bite in comparison, but defeat will not come. - Jimmy FORCED EXPOSURE (1987)
