For years there's been a debate among certain underground music circles as to who was the first of the "Garage Revival" bands. Although they certainly weren't setting out to "revive" anything, these 1976 recordings definitely prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Rudi Protrudi and his Pennsylvania cohorts were years ahead of the pack.
14 tracks which include 7 studio recordings and 7 rehearsal takes (high quality recordings). Tina Peel was Harrisburg, Pennsylvania's (and maybe the world's) first bubblegum-punk band. These recordings were made as demos before Rudi became the vocalist (his guitar playing is featured on all the tracks, and contributes to a harmony duet). Most of the songs presented here are Protrudi originals (although the band covers the Barbarian's "Are You A Girl or Are You A Boy" and Paul Revere & The Raiders' "Hungry" - drastically rearranging both in a garagey punk style that features vocalist Victor Poisontette, later of NYC's Rat At Rat R fame. Very different, much raunchier sound than later Tina Peel recordings (picture a male Patti Smith fronting the NY Dolls, covering Paul Revere & The Raiders). TRACK LISTING: STUDIO RECORDINGS 1.
